June 21st-Cozumel-Nachi Cocom (pronounced: Nah-Ch-e Co-Comb)
We woke up around 8am and got dressed to grab breakfast. Then we went back to the room to change into bathing suites and sunscreen up for our day at Nachi Cocom. We were off the ship by 9am. It took a min. to find the taxi ara. If you get off the ship and walk into the port shops then go left and keep going left until you see the BIG papola (grass hut thing)covered area. We took a taxi ride to Nachi which took about 10 mins. He dropped us off right at the entrance. It was $15 plus I gave a $5.00 tip. The taxi driver was really nice and talkative. He talked to us about his country and traditions.
A lady met us at the gate and asked to see out reservations then took our picture with hats on, which they tried (sold) to us later for about $20. We then walked in and were introduced to Manuel, who was our waiter. We got a papala right next to the pool and bar area. Only about 2 other people were there at the time. Manuel took the money and asked if we wanted anything. Water was the first thing. Thought it wasn't too hot, yet, it was humid. Cold bottled water was brought to us. The sand is a bit rough here, so if you have sensitive feet, wear your sandals. It has coral in it and that's why. Also, be aware that there is a little bump you have to go down to get into the water, its not a incline and the sand is like quick sand when you first get in. You will sink down a good 2-5 inches, but once you go out a bit further it gets much better. Remember that when you go to get out though.
We spent some time in our chairs on the beach and then went up to order our food. Now I must say, I didn't see much of Manuel on the beach, but from the looks of things, he was the only waiter there that day. He did come down and bring us the menus and he did take our order when we went up to eat. I had the Nachos and Hamburger and Mom had fruit and a Hamburger. The Nachos are covered in guacamole and melted cheese with been dip on the bottom. They also give you chips and salsa, but BEWARE the salsa is SUPER hot. I could do about 6 chips with just a little of the juice and it def. left a burning sensation on my tongue. The hamburger patties also were made with green peppers in the meat........I'm not much for surprises in my food and I was expecting that and I don't like green peppers.
We decided to give the pool a chance after the food settled. They have a foot wash at the opposite end from the bar (be careful the stones and cement around the pool get hot). Please wash your feet off. I noticed a lot of grass and trash in the hot tub (Not really hot, but warmer) b/c people weren't washing their feet off.
The pool has a swim up bar and they are happy to serve you. We had a couple of drinks and then got out of the pool to dry off and get ready to go back to port. We ordered out dessert then and we both had the lime sorbet. We asked Manuel to call the taxi and it was there in no time. It was a nice drive back and we walked around port to for some shopping and a few picture ops. By that time I was a whiny 2 year old b/c I was hot and tired so we headed back to the ship to get ready for dinner.
Dinner was Ceasar Salad, beef steak and Mozzarella, petite Filet Mignon, Apple Pie and ice cream. I felt sick that night, so I went to bed at 10:30 and mom stayed up to watch the "Village Idiots" juggling act perform, which she said was good.
Next: Sea Day
I tried for a running start and still tripped, lol. Now for some pictures:
