Dreamin' 3

I think I got the ports mixed up......I believe Belize is next.

And it started off with a mystery....would we be able to tender with the negotiations with the operators going on? Yes, it went off without a hitch and I didn't see any of the operators treating anyone any differently as a result.

My friend has been to most of these island 3-4x so I kind of let her make the decisions as to what we did besides Nachi. So, she said there was a bar called the Wet Lizard that a friend of hers had opened years ago. It used to be the only bar there, but now there are a few more. Neither of us wanted to really go past the gates, except for when we ventured out for a moment to get a fresh coconut for her.

We spent a little while looking at the shops and buying stuff we probably won't use. I had to buy my shot glass, as is custom. Then we went and had lunch at the Wet Lizard. Its upstairs and a open air bar with seating. People have written on everything, "Joe Smoe was here..." and there is some undergarments hanging about. They have pretty good food and they have a great drink called the "Panty Rippa." NO kidding. I had two. It it wasn't a little on the expensive side I probably would have had more. We walked around a bit more, said hi to some friends we had met on the ship, then headed back.

Here are some pictures, Not many.....didn't go much of anywhere, lol.

Me tendering: (Oh, if you are wondering why you don't see pictures of my friend its b/c she doesn't like to take them and the few I got she didn't want me posting. Its out of respect.)

Sorry I got tired of resizing the pictures.

I think when we got back to the boat we actually took a nap and then headed to the spa before dinner.

Now, my friend and I are both relatively girly and well......there just wasn't a lot of room in there for two very pretty, single girls to get gussied up. So, when I discovered the VIP (I say this b/c the pass card said it) locker rooms had a really nice big shower I took to going to the spa before dinner, then heading into the showers there. All I had to do is pack my beach bag with my shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, wash cloth, and my "comfy dress." B/c I used my bathing suit to go into most of the spa areas, I took the "comfy dress" with me so I wouldn't be naked under a bathrobe........can you imagine the mishaps that could happen walking down 5 flights and all the way to the aft of the ship??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS-I write another blog called....fatgirlsperspective, so no one take this the wrong way, but for a size 26/28, 5'7, big hips.....those robes in the cabins did not go all the way around, so I brought my own. The spa staff said it looked more comfortable (probably trying to be nice, lol. But it was comfy.)

I have to tell you about one of our tablemates, Howard. Howard was an 86 year old tiny, tiny man who ate like a turtle. But he was soooo funny. He took it all in stride. He knew he was a slow eater and many nights after our first he took to just ordering the main dish or skipping dessert so that we all wouldn't feel the need to stay with him. We often all went to the shows together. He was a riot. The things that would come out of this man's mouth! He knew a lot too. He knew geography very well and every time we would see him, he would recite the information he had learned about each of us. It was priceless.

So, the next day was Roatan and we figured we would do another beach day. Its a good place to do it b/c the beach is literally a little walk away or a "Magic Chair Lift" away.

We bypassed the shops until we came back. We took the chair lift, so I could get some good shots. Now I have to say that it was shaping up to be a hot day. The beach has very little tress for shady areas and they do have clam shells, but for $23!!!! The other loungers were free. So, I loaded up on the sunscreen and took a few dips in the water (lathered back up) and survived at least 2 hours in the direct sun. NO KIDDING! We ate and everything. Its a bit pricey too. At some point I couldn't take the sun anymore. I get really grumpy when I get too hot and sweaty and I can start acting like a 2 year old if I don't watch myself. So, I told my friend I would go sit in the restaurant for shade until she was ready to go. I was coming out of the bathroom and she came in saying she didn't feel well. I waited and after a while she asked me to go get her stuff, so we could just go back to the ship. We got in line for the chair lift and headed back over to the port area. With the wind blowing by us, she started to feel a bit better. I think between the drink she had, the chips/gucml. and the heat she just needed to cool down. So, we took our time in the shops and bought a few things.

One shop, don't remember the name, but all it had was silver items in it, I would watch them. I bought two sets of little silver earrings. Like $7 each. I gave her American money and she asked me if I had 90 cents. I said, "No." Then she told me that she didn't have 10 cent to give me back with my change. And that was it. She just stared at me. I know 10 cent is nothing. I could have just walked away and not cared, but it was the way in which she did it that made me think twice. Does everyone walk away without 10 cent, so by the end of a port day you pocket an extra $5 (I'm guessing and probably too high)? So, I asked if she could get the change, she said, "They have to get it from the back." Another blank stare. I said, "Okay." Then she looked at a guy at the other register and said something to him and he went in the back and came out with my 10 cents. I don't know what was going on....miscommunication, cultural differences? But, I have been pushed around by some of the local people on cruises before and by gosh.....it wasn't happening again. Mainly, b/c I think she was just being crooked. If it was just her not being good at math or even being to lazy to go get the change...I could understand....maybe.

Anyway, here are a few photos from Roatan.

The photog at our table took these an emailed them to me later:

Back to the ship for some relaxation. Spa as usual and then dinner, show, a little casino. I only play $20 the whole cruise in the slots..so I was finished by then, lol.

Next up Costa Maya.
