Long Johns Required-A Ghost Tale Pt 3

As promised, here is the email we received after we booked:

Hello,

Thank you for joining us on our upcoming Ghost Hunt – we’re looking forward to welcoming you to the Asylum!

This email confirms your booking, and hopefully will answer any questions you may have. If you need more information however, you’re always welcome to call our office during business hours, or e-mail us anytime.

HOW TO GET HERE
GPS won't always get you here, but we’re easy enough to find: from West Virginia’s Interstate 79, take Exit 99 toward Weston, bearing left from the exit ramp to follow Route 33 West, which will take you into the town of Weston. Watch your signs, following 33 West through town, until you see the Asylum on your left: turn left down the driveway in front of the building, and pull right up to the front door: parking is available beside the steps.

ARRIVAL
Registration ends at 9:30 and the investigation begins immediately.  Please plan to arrive between 8:30pm and 9 to sign in and pick up your welcome packet, and be sure you have ID with you. For security reasons, the doors must be locked once the hunt begins, so please do your best to arrive on time. If you need to leave at any time during the night, just let your guide know.

BEING PREPARED
Dress comfortably, and in layers: this is a very old stone building, and interior temperatures vary greatly depending on the season. You’re welcome to bring a flashlight, snacks, and your own investigation equipment such as cameras, voice recorders, K-II meters, dowsing rods, etc. If you have a smart phone, such as Droid or iPhone, there’s an app for that: search for keywords such as ‘paranormal investigation’, ‘digital dowsing’, ‘ghost detector’, etc. NO OUIJA BOARDS!

Your Ghost Hunt will take place in the Kirkbride Building, and only in the Kirkbride Building, which has 9 acres of floor space to explore. The Medical Building, Forensics Building, TB Building, the Women’s Auxiliary Building, Clocktower, basement, cemeteries, and all other areas of the campus are strictly off-limits during Ghost Hunts and Paranormal Tours, to staff members and visitors alike. These areas are now under surveillance and trespassers may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

UH-OHs
Space is limited on each night, and so all tickets are non-refundable. Life happens, however, and if you won’t be able to make it to your scheduled hunt, just call our office and we’ll try our best to work out something for you. Please give us as much notice as possible: one week is the absolute minimum. No-shows = No-mercy!

JUNIOR GHOST HUNTERS
Young people interested in the paranormal are always encouraged to join us. However we do not allow anyone under the age of 14 on our overnight hunts. Any person under the age of 18 MUST BE ACCOMPIANIED BY AN ADULT the entire hunt. Please let our office know if any of your guests are under the age of 18.

FOR THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS
If you need a place to stay, the Super 8 Motel, Holiday Inn Express Suites, and the Plantation Inn  will give you a special rate when you tell them you’ll be ghost-hunting at the Asylum. We’ve had feedback that our guests have been granted later check-out times so they can rest adequately for the drive home: it wouldn’t hurt to ask! All the hotels will accept pets, subject to a small deposit. Call the Weston Super 8 at 304-269-1086, Holiday Inn Express Suites in Weston at 304-269-3550, or Plantation Inn in Jane Lew, at 304-884-7806.

Have a wonderful trip – and good luck hunting!
