Ghost, Chocolate and Zombies

I guess I should explain how the trip came to be.

It all started when I was 10 years old.......Just Kidding.

I've always like ghost stories, books, movies etc. Now there are all these shows about Ghost Hunters and such, so I don't feel as secretive as I use to. It's not like I dress in all black...wait, I do, but that's b/c I'm Fat and its slimming. But not a Goth or Emo girl here.

Moving on. A couple years ago I was at a friends house and we were watching the Travel Channels Halloween Marathon and the show was American's Most Haunted or whatever. They showed a spot of the Eastern State Penitentiary (ES) in PA. I thought it was wonderfully beautiful and spooky and really wanted to see it.

Fast forward a few years later and here I was going to spend another birthday (late October) doing the same old same old, but determined not to!

With a simple Status Message on Facebook, I had a solution. My friends Matt and Carma were looking for a short vacation and a spooky one at that. So, we decided to join forces and create a Spooky Vacation for all.

If you don't know, every year ES does a haunted house called Terror Behind The Walls (TBTW). They take a part of the prison and create a themed haunted house inside based on the prison's history. Its also AOL's #1 Scariest Haunted House (Prison, whatever). This place has some great history and has been documented on several haunted shows always coming up with some kind of "haunted proof." I was excited to say the least. I wanted to do the haunted prison and go on a daytime tour. So this was the extent of my thoughts. This is where Carma steps in.

"Gee, Brooke dont' you know that Gettysburg is half-way to Philly? They are haunted and historical. Not to mention that Hershey is right in the middle between the two.

Smacking myself in the forehead.

"Duh, I coulda had a v8...wait...a better vacation."

Well, that's not exactly how it went, but you get the idea.

So, I told Carma to take care of everything and Matt and I would be there. No, not really, but she was awesome at finding things to do and places to stay.

We were leaving on a Thursday morning early and making the 4 hour trek to Gettysburg, which would get us there around mid-noon. We'd stay the night there, then move on to Hershey the next day. Drive from Hershey to NJ, where our hotel was for the night, then back to Philly for TBTW. Back to NJ to sleep and then back to ES for a daytime tour. Leave by early afternoon and straight shot home. We left Sunday as a day to recover, lol.

I'm sure you know that things don't always work out the way you plan and we had a few snafus, but nothing that really hinder our fun.

I'll try my best to give names and prices. I have over 200 pictures and will try to keep them in sequence and explain what they are.

Next up: Ghost
