Hershey PA was only about an hour drive from Gettysburg, so we were there in no time. It was still raining, but since we planned on being inside, it didn’t matter. The factory is very nice. I kind of felt like I was in the Movie Willie Wonka. They have a few different options for touring the factor or activities you can participate in. I’ll use the website to tell you what they offer:

Here you will see, feel, and hear the processes that deliciously transform the beans into milk chocolate.

We chose to do the free Great American Chocolate Tour. If you are wondering what it is like: Think, Disney’s It’s a Small World, but less annoying and with chocolate, lol. I will warn you that the ride might be hard for certain people to get on and off of. You don’t have to have a disability to have a problem. You know in the funhouses at the end where there is that tub that turns. Well the floor you have to walk across to get to the carts for the ride moves. I’m a clumsy person and my proprioceptive ability is lacking. I know Big Word and it’s for real, google it.
I guess this ride might have been designed for children, but I saw plenty of adults and I turned into a child about halfway through, so. Let me just give you a quick rundown of the ride:
Singing Cows
Lots of plastic chocolate
Pumped in chocolate aroma
Real chocolate at the end.
You can take pictures when you go through as you will see when I post the pictures….now.

Our goodies

So, after I posted all those pictures (granted I didn’t post all of the pictures b/c b/t Carma and I it was well over 300) did you notice anything? Your gonna go back after I tell you this. Hershey, it was everywhere. When we got the pictures back Carma and I made a game out of it. How many times is “Hershey” in the pictures. Oh course, there had to be rules. No half “Hersheys” and it couldn’t be blurred. It’s kind of fun, try it when or if you go.
After our Chocolate Adventure we left the feeling of chocolate euphoria and headed to find shopping therapy. The outlets are not far from the Chocolate World at all, so if you have time and like to shop check it out. They have a range of shops: Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Totes, Coach…for the big girls…Lane Bryant. We bought some gloves and umbrellas from totes to be better prepared for TBTW and then just grabbed a small bite to eat at subway before leaving to head to NJ.
Note: The lamp posts are Hershey Kisses!

Note: There is a Chocolate Ave.
